Thomas Street Health Center is MOVING
The move from Thomas Street Health Center to Quentin Mease Clinic is a bittersweet transition. Thomas Street, at its present location, 2015 Thomas Street in Houston’s Northside, has been a pillar of the HIV/AIDS community with a rich legacy of providing care to a sometimes stigmatized, and often, marginalized population. Unfortunately, the continued use of its current location has become a challenge over the years. The more than 100-year-old building has needed substantial structural upgrades to continue its use as a healthcare facility. Aside from the expense, the building is a historical landmark and as such, has limitations and prohibitions to most construction and renovations.
Beginning May 9 2023, Quentin Mease Clinic will open its doors to Thomas Street patients after undergoing a two year renovation project. The new multi-floor clinic allows Harris Health to relocate several services, including Thomas Street Health and HIV/AIDS, under one roof.
The move can’t dampen the legacy of Thomas Street Health Center. Over the years, Thomas Street has gained national and international attention for its cutting-edge services and expertise in HIV/AIDS care. With enormous pride and honor, Harris Health carries the name of Thomas Street to its new location. The new space located on the third and fourth floors will be named Thomas Street at Quentin Mease Clinic.
Thomas Street at Quentin Mease Clinic features new equipment in a modern space that will enhance the patient care experience. The rich history of opening the first freestanding HIV/AIDS facility in the U.S. is a badge of honor that we hold dearly and will continue within Quentin Mease. The new location, like Thomas Street, will provide patients with multiple services under one roof to help them get the necessary support to achieve healthy outcomes.

For patients’ convenience, Thomas Street at Quentin Mease Clinic has many more parking spaces in a secure area. It is on a major Metro public transportation line, making it easier for patients to access. Additionally, the facility is near the Texas Medical Center for patients who may require emergency or higher-level care from nearby Harris Health Ben Taub Hospital or other TMC partner hospitals.
